Fonds-Saint-Denis is located on the Caribbean coast, at 400 m altitude from the first slopes of the Pitons du Carbet and Saint Pierre. This village is located near Montagne-Pelée. The commune of Fonds-Saint-Denis is a recent place and one of the least populated of Martinique.
In 1850, on the occasion of the construction of the road linking Fort-de-France to Saint Pierre, the government created the village by popular demand. Fonds Saint Denis represents the most flowery village of Martinique despite the fact that the village does not have beaches or very high rainfall.
